New Year Activity

Written by Dhammacaro on 01/03/2010

New Years day activity at Buddhapadipa Temple consisted of the following:

09:00am visitors began to arrive at Buddhapadipa and gathered in the basement of the temple to receive the traditional New Years blessing from the head monk.

10:00am preparations of food and other forms of offerings were made by lay people within the temple grounds to offer alms food to the monks ("Tak Bart" in Thai). This is considered to be an auspicious act to start the New Year on a positive note for health and happiness.

11.00am lay devotees gathered in the house to offer lunch to the monks and receive a blessing. As soon as the monks had finished their lunch, all the remaining food was laid out for all the visitors to enjoy.

The day was a positive day where monks and lay people exchanged blessings and wished each other happiness throughout the New Year.

"Wishing you all good health and happiness throughout 2010”.
