It is a nice day today and Thai adoption organization manages to come to the temple to get blessing. It is a good thing to do so that children can learn their own culture and religion. Even if they were adopted by an English family, they have an opportunity to learn their own culture and religion and where they came from.
It is nice to welcome children and give them blessing; even if it is once a year. This time, I will teach them how to wai (pay respect) parents as Thai people were educated to pay respect to the seniors. It is good culture to be respectful and grateful to the senior people. There is an expression, “If there is neither respect nor gratitude in community, there is no peace and harmony”. Children feel safe and sound in the temple; I have heard that they love to come to the temple. They were adopted and they still adopt Thai culture, heart and Buddhism.
In reality, we are adopted in terms of learning and practicing cultures, religions and ways of life. We adopt something every day. It is true because what we all learn and practice today were founded or created by someone in the past. We just adopt it into our life, but some misunderstand that they create it or it is created for them. Culture, religion and way of life are just choices for us to choose; whatever we like, we just adopt it and whatever is not suitable for us, we leave it for others.
