Bring Relief Into Your Life

I once answered a new meditator that life was simple, correct, and easy if it was learned and understood. “How do we learn and understand life?”, she asked me and I said, “Mindfulness meditation can help us learn and understand life. We have to pay close attention and mindfulness in our daily life”. I gave her an example of how to do that.

When you open your wardrobe next time, notice how many clothes are in there; a lot, a few, enough or not enough etc. Then you will see and know that if you are buying too much, you should stop buying new ones or should donate some which you don’t use, to charity, or give them to those who need them. With understanding, you will bring relief into your life and make it easier.

Other ways you can bring relief into your life:

1. Don’t attach to things unnecessarily, to such things as clothes, furniture, shoes. Donate them to charity or those who need them.
2. Neither stress yourself with too much hard work nor work with too high expectations.
3. Give yourself time and forgive yourself when you have made some mistake.
4. Don’t read newspaper or watch TV programmes which talk of criminal activities repeatedly.
5. Don’t say, ‘Yes’ all the time. Say, ‘No’ to things which don’t give good consequence.
6. Don’t make promises easily because if you cannot keep them, it will result in pressure.
7. Don’t try to change others, because you will end up with disappointment.
8. Accept others as they are. If you cannot, just leave them to it.

These things will help bring relief to your life. Try to bear them in mind. This is the way to create a good environment around you. Have a go! From my experience, I can say that it is worth trying! When you are in a good environment, your life can be simple, correct and easy.
