It Really Matters
We like to think and say, “It doesn’t matter” when we have done something wrong or unsuccessfully. You know it really matters because everything is effected. The Buddha taught the world the law of cause and effect; things are effected or connected. We can notice that everything in our life is effected or connected. For example, whenever we exercise regularly, we feel stronger. When we are strong, we have more energy to work. When we work more and feel tired, we eat healthier food and again we feel better. It is true, isn’t it?
There is a saying*, “Everything in life is connected”;
The way you think effects the way you feel.
The way you feel effects the way you say.
The way you say effects the way you act.
The way you act effects the way you think.
Effort you put into one part of your life effects all the other parts. Here is one example: if we are happy at home, we are happier at work and if we are happy at work, we are happier at home. The reverse is also true, if we are unhappy at home, we are unhappier at work and if we are unhappy at work, we are unhappier at home. One affects the other like set of dominoes. So if we understand this system, it can improve our life. We can start now and with any positive thought. Positive thoughts will produce positive speech and positive speech will produce positive bodily actions. All positive paths will lead to other positive results because everything is connected. It works two ways! If we let one part of our life collapse, everything will begin to spiral downward. So we must keep paying attention on our path.
It doesn’t matter when or where we start cultivating positive thoughts in our life. It matters that we start here and now. A good reminder is to recall the saying, ‘Everything you do matters!”
