Life Is A Journey

It is clearly stated, “Life is a journey!” Everyone has to make a journey to their destination, whether that be to happiness, peace, success, praise, rank and so on. One thing which we should know is that we should not have many unnecessary burdens on our shoulders, because they will delay our journey. We should only carry necessary burdens and leave unnecessary ones behind. The issue is then what we should carry and what we should leave behind. We should have wisdom and consideration to help us know what is necessary or unnecessary. When we can leave unnecessary things, life can be light and our journey can be fast. There is a story which gives a good example of this. Here is the story:
In one town, everyone could swim very well. One day there was a terrible flood in that town. Even knowing how to swim very well, they had to use boats to help them move their possessions. The boats happened to leak and sunk, but nobody was shocked. Each of them swam to the shore, including one man who carried a heavy load, which slowed down his swimming. His friends told him to leave his belongings. ‘No’ he said. “All of my possessions are precious. I cannot leave them”. His friends urged him to leave his things in order to save his own life. He would not leave them and in the end, he sank and drowned. His friends just looked on at him drowning and dying as they could not help him because they too had to swim for their lives.
The story tells us that as life is a journey, we should not attach to material things so much that they make our life heavy or difficult. Throughout our life journey, we pass through many experiences some of which are neither good nor beneficial to life. We should detach from these. Keep in mind that life is more valuable than material-things! We should save our own life as first priority. The first thing is to be alive! We can always earn money for new possessions later. Without life, we lose everything. What do you think? I shall leave you to decide whether you agree with that or not.
