Postponing
To be punctual is a good virtue which we should cultivate in life, and live by. As the ‘now’ is very precious, we must not postpone the moment. Whatever is good or beneficial to life, we must go and do straight away. Don’t postpone starting by making all those excuses, "Now it is too early, too late, too cold, too hot, it is raining and so on." A lot of people know this, but they still make excuses; including one young man who had the bad habit of stealing. Here is his story:
There once lived a young man who had the bad habit of stealing. When he saw anything he liked, he took it without permission. All the people in the village knew of his habit. One day the headman of the village warned him, saying, "You must stop stealing things or I will hand you over to the police." He said, "Sir, I know that, you know! I have stolen things for years. How can I stop it now? You must give me time, next year I may be able to stop it."
From the story, we know that this is an excuse which is neither reasonable nor sensible. To do good things, we must do them now. It is certain that good actions produce good consequences, so good actions are the first things to do in life. We should not postpone starting to do them, for the earlier we start the sooner we will be happier.
Time flies so quickly, so we must do things now. Otherwise, it will be too late. Have you started yet? If not, now is the time. Just do it!
