Two Tree

When those who do not understand the Dhamma act improperly, they look all around to make sure no one is watching. But Kamma is always watching them whenever they go. And whatever action, good or bad, is done, kamma gives rise to the result which exactly corresponds with the action. They never really get away with anything. When an action is done, the result will come out for sure.

The only way which can help, is to perform an action without forming any opinion or judgement. That is difficult to do. But it doesn’t mean that mankind cannot do it. To do such a pure action needs a lot of learning and practising. Through right practice, we can change our kamma for the better and start knowing how things arise and pass away, with right understanding, we can just be aware and let them run their course. It is like having two trees; if we fertilize and water one and do not take care of the other, there is no question which one will grow and which one will die. When we do something bad, there is nowhere we can go to hide. Even if on one sees us, we must see ourselves. Even if we go into a deep hole, we’ll still find ourselves there.

There’s no way we can commit bad actions and get away with it. In the same way, why shouldn’t we see our own purity? We see it all- the peace, the agitation, the liberation, the bondage. We see all these for ourselves through our wisdom eyes; feed our body with healthy food, feed our brain with right information and feed our mind with right understanding, then peace, happiness and wisdom will grow in our life just as the tree we fertilize, and water, will grow and give us fruits.
