Saturday 7th October was the annual Gala evening, held at The Grenfell Centre in Esher. People from many faiths and cultures take part in making the evening a success, by attending in their national dress and providing delicious food from their respective countries. This evening was the third such occasion put on by Elmbridge multi faith. The Lady Mayoress attended the gala, which was hosted by Doctor Nabil M Mustapha. The Buddhapadipa temple was represented by Phramaha Prasert and Phramaha Chai and four lay people.

After the welcoming speech we were treated to some Irish dancing by the Oconnor School of dancing. The older girls danced with great skill and were joined by two tiny tots who looked so sweet and did the best that they could, winning their audiences heart in the process. Following that, food was served, which was delicious, and which could not be eaten by the monks, as is their rule.

Then we heard Indian music and saw superb dancing by a young professional male dancer. Much equally good entertainment followed which made us all appreciate how much effort and hard work the organisers had put into the occasion.

The evening concluded with the chairman’s closing remarks and his thanks to all who attended the event. It was a very enjoyable evening for us all and we at the Buddhapadipa temple are pleased to be a part of such a positive organization.
