Ordination Ceremony

Becoming a Buddhist monk is the tradition in Thai Theravada Buddism. It gives an opportunity to all who want to have monastic experience. It will not be good if they hear that Buddhist monast life is good, but they never try it out by themselves. So it is the good tradition which has been preserved for ages in Thailand. Especially, in the rainy Buddhist lent, it is a good time for Buddhist men, or women to experience monastic life. The Buddhapadipa temple always gives this equal opportunity to people to experience it, come and see for yourself.

On 6th August, there are two ordainees who would like to have this experience. They take their time out and become Buddhist monks temporarily. It is good though for them to experience it as they call them ‘I am a Buddhist’. There are a lot of people; both their family and friends who witness their intention and dedication. From now on, they are going to study under teachers and put what they study into practice. Study and practice is the Buddha’s path; the Buddha shows the path, we, people, walk the path. The path mentioned is as follows;

Right understanding, Right view, Right speech, Right action, Right livelihood, Right effort, Right mindfulness and Right concentration; they can be summarized into three paths; morality, meditation and wisdom.

The path is open to all if you want to walk this path. You are welcome, we can go together; come to experience the path by yourself.
