Lamoon Rowell had a dream to build a temple in her village in Roi-ed Province in Thailand. She is making that dream come true and the temple is near to completion. It is to be named Wat Tepnimitwanaram. On Sunday 14th October she with her friends and family arranged a Thai cultural day to help raise money for the project. The event was held near Maidstone in Kent. The aim of the day was also to share the funds raised with the Dhammapadipa temple in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is a young temple where a hall is much needed so as to enable larger numbers of people to be taught meditation. There were many stalls and much delicious food on offer.
Five Venerable monks attended, from Scotland, the Abbot of Dhammapadipa, Pramaha Wisit joined by Phramaha Wattana. Also supporting the day were two venerable monks from Buddhapadipa they were Pramaha Sangthong and Pramaha Chai, joining them was Pramaha Somkid, who is at present based in Birmingham.
The monks chanted and gave a blessing at 11am, before being served lunch. In the afternoon there was traditional dancing and lively dancing performed. The day was a success and all the hard work that was put in by the organizers helped both temples to get just that little bit closer to realizing their aims.
