Silacarini Day 2013
Silacarini course, or lay Buddhist nuns in the Buddhapadipa Temple, Wimbledon was held for Thai ladies to practice meditation for 9 days July, 2013. These ladies are following the female monk-tradition and observing the eight precepts.
The programme was set up for Silacarini to study and practice the Buddha’s teachings every day from early morning until evening. The resident monks give them Dhamma talks and conduct them in Vipassana meditation. The programme is set up for them to practise living their lives in a simple way like wearing white clothes, eating two meals a day and watching their actions mindfully.
The practice makes them cultivate mindfulness and consciousness before speaking or doing all actions e.g. thinking, speaking and acting. When they have that state of mind, a calm and peaceful mind, they will have real peace and see the truth of life. They can see things with wisdom rather than with the eyes and then they can realise what is happening here and now and know what to deal with it.
