Tak Bat Devolohana
When the Buddha became awakened from ignorance he started to deliver his teachings to the world. In the seventh year after his enlightenment he stayed in retreat for three months and after the Buddhist lent (rainy season retreat), he returned to the towns and taught people and followers.
It was then that people and followers prepared a festival with food and offerings to welcome the Buddha back. This has become the tradition; it takes place after the rainy retreat and it is done in remembrance of the day the Buddha returned to teach people again. It is also called "Devolohana" and the festival with food and offerings is called "Tak Bat Devolohana". So today people come to the temple to remind themselves of the day when the Buddha returned to teach people again. They prepare food and offerings like the old days. It is considered to be a particularly auspicious day and ceremony. It is the first time that this festival has been held at the Buddhapadipa temple and it was an enjoyable day for people. Many have requested to hold it next year, so see you next year.
Thank you very much
