Thai Sangha Committee Meeting 2008

Yesterday, Thai monks who have lived in the UK came to meet at The Buddhapadipa Temple to talk about their work. It is good to share ideas to each other about how we work. It is sure that working must have some certain difficulties, more or less as said, “No work, and no mistakes”.

The main problem is that it is more difficult to bring the Buddhist monks to work in the UK as the law at present is very strict about this. However, it is not that bad as Chao Khun Ajahn Khemmadhammo has helped. He had many meetings with the Home Office so that there would be some solutions. “We should be supported as we are working for society”, Ajahn Phrakru Panyasudhammawites said. Yes, it is absolutely right; this is our view, but it might be different from other points of view. Let’s wait and see whatever result may be.

After the Thai Sangha meeting, there was TBSUK (Theravada Buddhist Sangha in UK) meeting. The topic of discussion was still the same, the solutions are not clear, and the documents are complicated. That is the hard homework for the Sangha. Anyway we won’t dismay to work for those who want to understand the Buddhist way of life. We will help each other as much as we can so that Buddhism can help those who need the new way of life, here in the UK.
