The Abbot Day
27th June 2010 was the Abbot Day which is one of the important days in the Buddhapadipa temple programme. The Buddhapadipa temple performed memorial service for the Abbot Day, to commemorate all the head monks and dhammaduta monks who worked very hard to establish the temple, which is regarded as a school, and to spread the words of the Buddha, which consist of loving-kindness, compassion, wisdom, knowledge, cause and effect. Once a year, the Buddhapadipa temple holds the Abbot Day which people can express their respect and gratitude to the Abbots or monks.
The Buddhapadipa temple was established with good intentions; loving kindness, compassion, generosity, harmony and so on and gives an opportunity and right information to people who would like to learn and practise Buddhist way of life. It has a long history and has been established more than 40 years that can be proved good Buddhist school. A lot of school groups or people visit the temple every day to hear the teachings of Buddha. This happens because of the head monks and monks, who learn, practise Buddhist way of life very hard and pass on their wisdom to people and they took trouble to establish the temple to be the school for people to learn and practise Buddhist way of life. So in the programme of the temple, there is one day to honour their great effort and work.
The Abbot day, as students we pay respect and gratitude to the teachers. Respect and gratitude are great virtue in the Buddhist way of life. The Buddha taught his followers to be respectful and grateful to each other, especially those who help them out or teach them the right way of life.
