Visit To Eton College

Rohan Preece, a teacher from Eton College visited Buddhapadipa Temple at the beginning of April. He has been teaching his pupils about Buddhism as well as the other religions of the world.

He spoke to Phramaha Phaisal and a lay person named Lynne. Rohan’s questions were answered and so he invited Phramaha Sangtong and Phramaha Phaisal and Lynne to visit his class at Eton in the near future. So it was that on 28th of April the three of them drove into the parade ground of the magnificent historical school. They were met by Murray, a Pastor of the school, who took them to a small sitting room, where over refreshments, they chatted amicably.
Soon they were joined by Rohan who took them to the classroom where sixteen impeccably dressed Eton boys waited for them. The boys’ ages averaged sixteen years old. Rohan has already taught the boys the fundamental teaching of the Buddha, so it was decided to split the boys into two groups. Each group could then ask questions easily. Phramaha Sangthong sat at one table while Phramaha Phaisal and Lynne sat at the other.

The boys asked many relevant questions and were genuinely interested in the subject of Buddhism. The Forty five minutes lesson was filled with questions and answers and time passed so quickly. It was a very worthwhile visit for us, the visitors, as well as the pupils.
