The problem that we put aside will always accompany us. It never leaves us unless it is solved. We must realise this, otherwise, we will always suffer. The problem is like a burden; if we continue to carry it on our shoulder, we will always be heavily laden. Putting it down or letting it go is the way to end the suffering. There is a folktale which gives a good example of this. Here is the story:
There was once an owl which was flying from the east to the west. He stopped and sat on the branch of a big banyan tree. There he was asked by a dove where he was going and why? He said, "I came from the East and will go to the West, because in the East people blamed me, saying that my sound was not nice. So I have to move to the West. I do hope in the West I will be loved". The dove said, "How come you will be loved in the West, as your voice is still the same? It is your voice, it is not affected by either the people or the place." The owl asked the dove, "How can you know the future?" The dove said, "It is obvious. If you cannot change your voice, wherever you go - be it the East, the West, the North or the South - it will always be the same. The problem will never end."
From the story it is clear that the owl did not realise that the problem was his voice. The fault was neither in the listeners nor the place. Therefore, he moved around from one place to another. We must realise that in any problem or conflict we are a part of it. We must realise our part and solve it right away. But if we leave our side for others to solve, the problem will never end. It will always accompany us.
Learn to realise the problem and solve it. Put it down or let it go.
