On the 4th of September, there was a Dhammaduta meeting at the Buddhapadipa temple. There are many Buddhist monks who live in the UK and some monks from Thailand who come to join the meeting to see how Dhammaduta monks convey the teachings of the Buddha to the west. It is the good support from the Thai Sangha which has shown to us, whom work hard to spread Buddhism to those who want to understand.
As usual, it is not only monks who give us support, but also lay people too, especially from Thai embassy, especially the Thai ambassador, H.E. Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, and the Department of Buddhism in Thailand led by Mrs. Chularattana Boonyakorn. They always give us support in many ways and as much as they can. On behalf of the Thai Sangha in UK, I would like to say thank you very much indeed.
From the meeting, there have been many interesting points shared with each other; on how successful the work is and how difficult it is etc. The most important issue raised by Yom Saisampan Suwannapateep, a Barrister, is that it is going to be very difficult for Buddhist monks who want to come to teach Buddhism in UK. Anyway, we feel sure that there will be a solution to this as now the Thai embassy tries to find the way-out for the Sangha.
The meeting went well; some issues are clear and some still need time to find the proper solution as we say ‘Slow slow but sure’.
