A Lesson

Written by Dhammacaro on 08/24/2009

There are many lessons to be found in every single day of our life. If we would but notice and learn, they would support our life a great deal. Such lessons surround us and are both within and outside us. They are great to learn and put into action. Here is one such lesson which is good to share with you. Here is the lesson:

Once upon a time the other parts of the body were very annoyed with the stomach. They were resentful that they had to procure food and bring it to the stomach, while the stomach itself did nothing but devour the fruit of their labour.

So they decided they would no longer bring the stomach food. The hands would not lift it to the mouth. The teeth would not chew it. The throat would not swallow it. That, they thought, would force the stomach to do something!

But all they succeeded in doing was to make the body weak to the point that they were all threatened with death. So it was finally they who learned the lesson that in helping one another they were really working for their own welfare.

It is a good lesson, isn’t it? Learn to help each other, for helping one person is working for all. Let’s think about it; if others are unhappy, we or society will be affected. It would have like a domino-effect; one affects another. So among the lessons, a good one should be picked up and learned. Is there a lesson you could learn now? Look around you, there might be something for you to learn. Good luck.
