In Buddhism there are many good words which are spoken that bring happiness and peace to human life. Which are they? They are loving-kindness, generosity, responsibility, truthfulness and mindfulness. They all have specific meanings: loving-kindness, means wishing all beings happiness; generosity, means sharing and caring for others; responsibility, means taking care of oneself and others; truthfulness, means being true to oneself and others, and mindfulness means living a life carefully.
These good words are regarded as magical words. Indeed, they are magical, especially when they are put into action. It is true; if we love each other and wish each other happiness, we will all be happy. If we are generous towards each other and share with each other what we have, we will all be happy. If we take responsibility for ourselves, we won’t be worried about anything. If we are true to ourselves and others, we will be accepted and if we live a life carefully, we will live in peace and harmony.
These are words which we should speak and put into action in our daily life. They will bring happiness and peace to our lives. They are like life protections which protect us from desire. Life without protections will be brought down by desire, so we should install protections in our life, just as we install an anti-virus programme on our computer. It will protect the computer from viruses. In this comparison, a computer virus is analogous to desire and a computer can be seen as a human life.
To live a happy life, we need protections such loving-kindness, generosity, responsibility, truthfulness and mindfulness. Do you install them in your life?
