“We all need help” is a phrase which came into my mind when I called an ambulance for PK Lom. I phoned 999 and was asked if I wanted help. I said, “Yes, I do. I need an ambulance for my teacher, who is very sick now”. Then he was put into the ambulance and I was asked so many questions. These were mostly all about the patient’s symptoms. I told them everything. The ambulance came within 5 minutes. It was very quick for me, but very slow for PK Lom.
I followed PK Lom to hospital so I could see the process and treatment. I thought about everything that happened in the hospital and came to conclusion that “We all need help”. Why do we all need help? That is because we all share the same characteristics, especially sickness. Maybe it does not seem so now, but without expectation and warning, it can happen to all of us at any time, as in the case of PK Lom. He was healthy, but suddenly he woke up to face a threat to his life. After he was better, he told me that he had died for a few minutes, as he was unconscious. But because he was mindful; he knew that he needed help. Therefore, he called out to me to get an ambulance.
A lot of people die because they do not know what to do, when the sudden and unexpected happens. Remember! No matter how strong we are, we need help too. We never know what is going to happen to us, but if we are mindful or bear in mind that we need help, then we can get help in time. The life force is weak, so it needs help, either from ourselves or others.
But first of all, we have to help ourselves. If that is beyond our ability, we can ask for help. Do you need help now?
